Forget about your Title

I follow Mitch Goldstein on twitter and not too long ago he posted a tweet that really resonated with me. What you label yourself, or the titles your company gives you, are absolutely irrelevant. I would even argue that titles can limit you and force you to think and do things in a narrow way.

Like many of you I used to care a lot about my title at a company, now I care only a little and really only for social media vessels such as this one. When I have cared, I look to make my titles as ambiguous as possible so that my colleagues and clients understand that I can serve them in more ways than one. Titles can be misleading, I’d rather people know me for the work that I do and the impact I create for them.
